If you are participating as either a speaker or poster presenter for the International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific Region & Australasian Diabetes Congress 2026 in the above streams, please read through the information below. Registration

All presenting authors (oral and poster) will be required to register for the Congress in order to ensure their abstract(s) is included in the final program. Congress registrations are available now.

You need to have registered no later than 3 July 2026 to have your details in the Congress App and your abstract included in Congress proceedings. Otherwise, we regret that your presentation will be removed from the program.

If you decide to withdraw your abstract, please advise us as soon as possible so that the program can be adjusted accordingly.

ACCEPTED AS ORAL PRESENTATION

Streams 3-6 Oral Presentations

Your oral presentation is comprised of a presentation followed by questions and answers. Each presentation will be 15 minutes long – it will consist of a 10-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q+A. You will receive an email with the location and time of your presentation. 

Streams 3-6 Symposia sessions

If you have been invited by the Organising Committee to present in a Symposia session, please refer to your presentation email for the location and time of your presentation. 

Preparation of Presentation Slides

Please save your slide setup in 16:9 ratio (widescreen) to fit the projection being used.

Speaker Preparation Room

A Speaker Preparation Room is available to work on any changes to your presentation and located near the Registration Desk. The room will be available at the following times:

  • Wednesday 19 August, 0700-1800hrs
  • Thursday 20 August, 0700-1800hrs
  • Friday 21 August, 0700-1700hrs

If you have already uploaded your talk and need to make changes on the day, please visit the Speaker Preparation Room at least 2-hours before your presentation to make the changes

At the venue

Each session room is equipped with standard presentation technology, and you will have the choice of a lectern microphone or handheld microphone. The venue is also set up for Mac users. Please take the time to visit your session room at least 30-minutes before the session starts.

Stream 3-6 ACCEPTED AS A FACILITATED POSTER or ADS CLINICAL POSTER AWARD or ADS DISCOVERY SCIENCE POSTER AWARD SESSION

Facilitated Poster Oral Presentations will take place in in the main meeting rooms.
ADS Clinical & Discovery Science Poster Award Oral Presentations will take place inside one of the Education Hubs located in the Exhibition Hall. 

If your abstract has been accepted for one of these sessions, you will need to prepare a digital presentation with a maximum of 3 PowerPoint slides (in addition to a disclosure slide). You must also display a hard-copy poster on a poster board.  Stream 4 Poster Boards will be located on Level 1 and Stream 3, 5 and 6 Poster Boards will be located in the exhibition hall.

  1. Please ensure you are in the allocated meeting room (facilitated poster sessions) or the Exhibition Hall (@Education Hub) prior to the start of the session and check in with the chairperson.
  2. 4 minutes has been allocated for your presentation with 2 minutes to answer a few questions. There will be a count- down buzzer. Please stick to time.
  3. At 6 minutes the chairperson will thank you and introduce the next speaker.

Stream 3-6 ACCEPTED AS A PHYSICAL POSTER

If you were accepted for a physical poster presentation only, please see the printed poster guidelines below. Physical Posters require only a printed poster for display, with no presentation. 

Your poster will be on display for the duration of the Congress.  Stream 4 Poster Boards will be located on Level 1 and Stream 3, 5 and 6 Poster Boards will be located in the exhibition hall.

Preparation of Printed Posters

Posterboard Size

  • Each poster is limited in size to A0 paper size, 841mm wide x 1189mm high. Portrait orientation is required. Nothing larger can be accommodated.
  • Poster boards will be Velcro compatible. Please bring your own Velcro dots to display your poster.

Designing your poster

The poster should be self-explanatory, so that you are free to supplement and discuss particular points raised by viewers. Remember that your material/illustrations will be viewed from distances of one metre or more. Lettering should be as large as possible and preferably in bold type.

  • INITIAL SKETCH. Plan your poster early. Focus your attention on a few key points. Try various styles of data presentation to achieve clarity and simplicity. Does the use of colour help? What needs to be expressed in words?
  • ROUGH LAYOUT. Enlarge your best initial sketch, keeping the dimensions in proportion to the final poster. Ideally, the rough layout should be full size. Draw rough graphs and tables. This will give you an idea of proportions and balance.
  • BALANCE. The figures and tables ought to cover slightly more than 50% of the poster area. If you have only a few illustrations, make them large. Do not omit text but keep it brief. The poster should be understandable without oral explanation.
  • TYPOGRAPHY. Avoid abbreviations, acronyms and jargon. Use a consistent type-style throughout. Use large type, for example HELVETICA. A 22mm x 30mm sheet photo statically enlarged 50% makes text readable from 1.5 metres.
  • MOVEMENT. The movement (pathway) of the eye over the poster ought to be natural (down columns and along rows). Size attracts attention. Arrows, hands, numbers and symbols can clarify sequence.
  • SIMPLICITY. Do not overload the poster. More material may mean less communication. Ask yourself, what do I want the viewer to remember?
  • FINAL LAYOUT. The artwork is complete. The text and tables are typed but not necessarily enlarged to full size. Now ask - "Is the message clear? Do the important points stand out? Is there a balance between words and illustrations? Is the pathway through the poster clear?"

Hanging your poster at the venue

Posters will be on display from 0900hrs, Wednesday 19th August to 1800hrs, Friday 21st August.

Stream 4 Poster Boards will be located on Level 1 and Stream 3, 5 and 6 Poster Boards will be located in the exhibition hall.

  • Please hang your poster on Wednesday 19th August from 0800hrs.
  • All authors are responsible for removing their posters from the poster hall. Please do not remove your posters until 1800hrs on Friday 21st August. All uncollected posters will be destroyed.
